Ok, I’m done being sarcastic.

Let see the real version of how to live like a local:

I took a walk this noon to FamilyMart for lunch hunt, and on my way I saw this little shoes store, which I have never seen it before this second and have no idea when they set up the store. Couple days ago the store was empty, trashed and sealed with concrete cement, and all the sudden BOOM, there’s a newly remodeled shoe store. The sign says all shoes “50rmb,” then I thought…  50rmb? that’s like… $7.93 USD! And since my last “CAT” (http://www.sonax2k.com/php/wordpress/?p=627) ripped during a casual football tossing practice, I needed a replacement to go with my summer outfit.

So, yeah, $7.93USD, why the hell not.

I walked in and browsed for some minutes, ok they got good amount of shoes in stock but I just can’t quite catch on with their fashion. Just when I was about to leave and spend my 50rmb on beer and food, I came across this… a somewhat boots-look-alike shoes that smells like real leather, but in reality we all know it’s not real leather. I got a size 43, which is about the equivalent of 10.5 in US sizing, more or less.

Yes they did screwed two screws right through the surface of the shoe…that’s quite an unique fashion!

Now which genius decided to fake English into another languages… LOL

Overall the shoes is below quality line.  It’s really hard and uncomfortable compared to the CAT I bought off taobao, but the price is 3 times cheaper. I should really give it a F rank but since it’s only 50rmb.. Ok, D rank it is. Done.

這間位於興南路二段、興南路二段31巷交叉口的文具店大概從我小時候（幼稚園？小學？）就已經存在了。至少看了快20年的文具店就在今年年初過年期間決定永久休業。對這間店的記憶猶深，在裡面購買過無數次的文具玩具，也曾在店內跟著一起打大台電動。瘦高戴著眼鏡頂著一頭捲毛的老闆看似冷酷不過卻是很熱情好客，老闆娘也都是帶著親切的臉龐坐在收銀台招呼、替客人結帳。歲月匆匆不饒人，很遺憾失去了一間老店面，南勢角也再次失去了舊有的面貌。

其實這些是 2010 年的舊照片了，不過中和華新街的模樣始終沒變過，一直都保留著相同的景色。外婆家樓下大門一出來就是好吃的早餐店，美冠的蛋餅真是好吃到沒話講．．．每次回台灣都必定要吃的早餐蛋餅。旁邊是 7-11（華新街28號）。

Viewpad 4 平板手機拍照能力有限，青菜青菜看一下就好。

記得若干年前買了 Windows Mobile 6.1 系統的 HTC Diamond 手機，當初純粹是被手機外型吸引到了所以沒有做很多功課就一頭栽進去。結果一個月不到我就轉手賣掉了。理由？WM6.1 難用到了一種無可理喻的地步。也因為這個原因讓我對後來的 WM6.5 甚至是現在的 WP 7.5 一直都不青睞，直到我實際用了 WP 7.5 以後。上一個使用的 Viewpad 4 可以說是我這輩子買過最後悔的東西，品質不佳加上系統硬體不協調，種種原因都促使我趕快把這東西換掉以免怨念一天比一天深。

基於已經有了 Android 系統的 10 吋平板電腦，加上從以前就都在用 Android 系統的手機，所以這次更換的目標就定位在不同系統、不要太智慧、但是撥打接受電話簡訊的功能一定要強大不能遲緩。Android 系統的壞處就是你手機本身硬體要是不夠強，功能執行起來就非常克難而且很容易 LAG，甚至當機。Android 本身功能強太，但也因為太強大了所以能做（想做）的事情會更多，久而久之手機裡就會多一堆阿里不打的 App。這個開一開那個開一開，結果一有電話進來整個手機都當掉。當然一分錢一分貨的說法也是對的．．．要有好的品質就不要買廉價的東西．．．

Windows Phone 7.5 算是很封閉的系統，簡直比 iOS 還要封閉。首先它能自行設定系統的選項並不多，很像又回到 Symbian 的時代，手機功能全部幫你調校好了你只要負責用就可以。雖然有好有壞，但用慣了自由的 Android 再回到這種環境還是不太習慣。再來 WP 7.5 底下能用的 App 除了少之外，大多數的都是要付錢購買。價錢是不高但要付錢的 App 卻占了市場的絕大多數啊。和電腦傳輸方式需要透過 Zune 軟體來進行同步，搞得跟 iTune 一樣實在是沒什麼創意。

最討厭的是電腦恢復到原廠設定的功能居然是把整台手機，包括SD卡裡面所有東西通通都一起洗空！Android 底下恢復原廠設定好歹會幫你留下 SD 卡的資料照片音樂，WP 7.5 可是毫不留情的幫你全殺光。這點當初沒注意，害我東西全沒了．．．照片雖不多但人都回上海了是要我再飛回台灣重照嗎。

儘管系統還是一堆缺陷限制，但手機的好用易用程度可不是蓋的。在和相同硬體等級的其他手機比較下來， WP 7.5 的流暢度絕對是令人滿意到了極點。無論你現在（或是在背景）開了什麼 App，手機系統玩起來依舊風雨無阻，完全符合我所要的功效需求。看在 WP 7.5 才剛推出沒多久的份上，姑且包容一下它的缺點。未來絕對會繼續改進。

有很長一段時間沒接觸這個黑色指令畫面了，有點熟悉不過能記起來的指令也寥寥無幾。嚴格來講 ms-dos 和今下的 cmd 有點差距但不管如何．．．故事是這樣的。USB 在病毒氾濫的組織教室電腦使用後，回家一插進電腦就被 MSE 強制掃毒清理。掃一掃也無傷大雅，無奈的是一掃完整個 USB 都空了．．．重新看細胞切片要費的時間會死人的。仔細檢查發現 USB 其實有已使用過，但打開後卻看不到任何資料夾或檔案。

腦袋一陣混亂後想到在 cmd 底下可以顯示完整訊息，於是跑到 cmd 底下，切換到 USB 槽的位置輸入 dir /ah （光輸入 dir 同樣也是顯示空白）果然出現了：

切換到 JEFF 資料夾後再輸入 dir 可以看到裡面的檔案以及底層資料夾：

到這地步心中石頭就放下了。只要東西還在 USB 裡面，那無論 windows 再怎麼笨再怎麼頑固不顯示檔案出來，都可以救回來。這時候就應用上一點基本的 指令將 JEFF 這個資料夾以及底下所以檔案都複製出至另一個資料夾（或硬碟槽）就沒問題啦。使用 xcopy 指令要記得不能只輸入 xcopy，否則只會複製 JEFF 目錄底下的檔案，而不會複製到底下的子目錄。

xopy　顧名思義就是複製的意思
JEFF　是你要複製的資料夾
d:　是要複製到的目的地，也可以指定到其他硬碟槽或是底下的其他資料夾
/e　將資料夾底下的子目錄也一起複製的指令（就算子目錄資料夾是空的也複製）
/s　和樓上一樣，是將目錄下所有東西都複製回去的指令。而 /e /s 一起使用的目的就是確保所有檔案、資料夾都會一起被無誤複製

複製之前記得先回到 USB 的根目錄否則會找不到資料夾（因為本身就在那資料夾底下），然後再輸入：

再來就是到你的目的地檢查、複製搶救大功告成！

At first I thought adding more pages or renewing the passport means going to the U.S. Embassy. Turns out, I only had to visit the ACS office in Shanghai. ACS is the abbreviation for American Citizen Services or the formal official translation: U.S. Citizen Services. The office is located at 1038 West Nanjing Road, Westgate Mall (8th floor), just about 7 mins walk from line 2, West Nanjing Road subway station. (Talking about Shanghai of course)

Don’t be shocked by the long waiting line when you get out of the elevator. If you are an U.S. Citizen (assumed that you are), just show your U.S. passport along with your printed appointment paper (if you have one) to the security guard and tell them your reason of visit, then you will be permitted to enter without waiting. The staffs there are nice and polite, but I think this kindness stops when you are not an U.S. citizen. Someone (non-U.S. Citizen) did get yelled at badly for asking a question too slow, lol… But all of this only happened at the entry gate.

The cost for adding pages to your current passport is $82 USD, which comes to 549.40 RMB, same price for 24 or 48 pages. The process only takes about 20-30 minutes after they received your application, just wait there until they called your name.

Renewing passport costs $110 USD, about 737 RMB (24 or 48 pages) and it takes about a week to process (excluding weekends/holidays). After submitting the application, you get to keep your current passport for you to obtain your visa information. An email notification will be sent to you once the passport is ready, then just bring your current passport and receipt when you go pick up the new passport. Once you arrived and entered the office, go straight to the cashier’s window and ask for pick up, you don’t need to make an appointment or take the waiting ticket… which I did and sat there for 30 mins for nothing, duhh.
