For the past months I’ve been riding my bicycle to and back from school. At first I thought this would be a good relaxing exercise and a perfect way to escape the crowded afternoon subway ride (fact that I’m somewhat agoraphobic). So far I’ve been proven wrong. Riding on the streets of Shanghai City is no where near relaxing. Pedestrians and automobiles roam freely on the road regardless of traffic light signal, horns blown constantly and non-stop, cutting right in front of or running into you, not knowing how to avoid incoming traffic… the list can go on and on. People here are very inconsiderate for those who share the same road. It’s hard and sad to face the fact that a well-developed city, Shanghai, lack greatly in people-to-people culture relation development and education. There are parts of Shanghai that really amazes me and makes me go “wow, you can’t find this anywhere else in the world!”, but when it comes to people to people relation, Shanghai, I am not amazed.
